We would like to dedicate our first blog entry to love and marriage — To all the couples who were lucky enough to find each other and exercise their right to legal matrimony. Of course, we can’t help but to focus on same-sex couples, who before 2004 were prohibited from marrying legally. Thanks to Julie and Hillary Goodridge, plaintiffs in the landmark case Goodridge v. Department of Public Health (2003) and the first gay couple to marry, who along with six other couples broke a historic barrier and legally wed on May 17, 2004, same-sex marriage is now law. Since then, we have had the pleasure of creating beautiful high quality rings for our same-sex couples, not just as symbols of love and commitment, but also as testament to a legal bond. We can’t help but to feel elated and proud to be a part of these unions.
